Each year, Dort Financial Credit Union chooses two local charities and raises funds for those charities during the month of November and December. This year, the Care House of Oakland County and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan have been chosen as the two charity recipients.
Members are encouraged to donate dollar amounts to the Snowman Sales when they visit a branch during the campaign months. Please help us reach our goal of collecting over $21,000 for our two Snowman Sales charities this year.
CARE House of Oakland County is a children’s advocacy center, providing first rate services to victims of child abuse and neglect. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency based in Pontiac, Michigan, serving the residents of Oakland County Michigan. Founded in 1977 as the Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland County, we currently offer an array of programs focused on the identification and treatment of child abuse victims, and on child abuse prevention.
Our mission is to be a leading resource in the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and the protection of children through advocacy, education, intervention, research, training, and treatment, in collaboration with the community. Our vision is to impact the safety of every child in Oakland County through intervention, prevention and treatment.
The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan serves as a common solicitor, storehouse and distributor of food to member non-profit and charitable organizations in 22 counties. Once food arrives at the Food Bank, it is sorted, inspected and made available to partner agencies such as churches, soup kitchens, and food pantries to distribute to those in need. All Food Bank partner agencies are required to distribute food, without charges or fees, to needy clients.
In 2021, members and the community helped us raise over $21,190 for our two recipient charities! Paper snowmen could be purchased for $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00 or $50.00, with the proceeds going to Shelter of Flint, Inc. and Voices for Children Advocacy Center–Shiawassee County. Snowman Sales has benefited many worthy local charities in previous years thanks to our very generous members!
Our generous members and team members helped us collect $15,540 during our Annual Snowman Sales. These funds Dort Financial Credit Union would like to thank everyone who put a smile on a snowman to help local families in need. Members were able to buy a snowman for $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00 and $50.00. Your generosity helped us raise more than $14,000 for Child Advocacy Team and St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center!
Our generous members and team members helped us collect $15,540 during our Annual Snowman Sales. These funds were donated to the Ennis Center for Children and the Hundred Club of Genesee, Shiawassee, and Lapeer Counties in a check presentation on January 20th, 2020. On January 21, 2019 Dort Financial Credit Union presented The Old Newsboys of Flint and Ele’s Place with checks in the amount of $11,589.25 in front of local media and Dort Financial employees, this resulted in a new record total of 23,178.50!
